I worked with John from 1978 onwards at British Aerospace and continued to work with him throughout his retirement, including some work on his book update during the last year

John was a real gentleman and pleasure to work with. He is one of very few engineers, in modern times, who have come up with original ideas and gained world recognition for their work - including recognition by the USA's experts. I visited Washington with John in 2000, having co-authored a paper that he presented to The American Helicopter Society. Please find attached a photo that I took during our visit - this is how I will remember him.
